Q: How can I join Hapkido
Vancouver?
A: You may call Miles Tulloch or come to one of our classes.
Q: Do I have to start practicing right
away?
A: No. You may first come to observe one of our classes.
Q: Can I try-out Hapkido before I join?
A: Yes. You may participate in one class before you make up your
mind about joining.
The ten-dollar drop in fee for that session will be credited back
towards your first month training fee, should you decide to join
us.
Q: Do I have to have a uniform for the
try-out class?
A: No. If you already have a martial art uniform, you may wear
it. Otherwise wear appropriate
work out gear with no buttons, zippers, or strings for obvious
safety reasons.
Please tie your hair back and dispense with all body jewelry.
We work out in bare feet.
Q: What type of uniform do I need for
practicing Hapkido?
A: You need to have a white throwing gi and white pants, either
bleached or unbleached, with
a white belt. You can buy those from various martial art supply
stores.
Q: Do I need any other supplies to practice
Hapkido?
A: You must wear flip-flops or sandals between the change rooms
and the dojang, in order to
avoid transferring germs to the training mats.
Mouth-guards and protective cups (for men) are recommended.
You also need a padlock to secure your street clothes and other
belongings in your lockers.
Q: Do I have to be physically fit or have
martial arts
background in order to practice Hapkido?
A: No. As long as you are healthy and able to participate in physical
activities, you can practice
Hapkido.
If you have a medical condition, talk to your family doctor first.
Q: Is there an age limit to practice Hapkido?
A: Anyone over the age of sixteen can join our school and practice
Hapkido, and for as long as
they are physically capable.
Q: Do we take breaks during classes?
A: Yes. We take short water breaks, with the permission of the
Chief Instructor.
Students should have their own water bottles.
Q: How many times can I train in a week?
A: Your flat rate monthly fee entitles you to unlimited access
to classes and training times.
A minimum of two classes per week is recommended. However, as
a paying student you are
entitled to train up to twenty times a month, on days that fit
your schedule.
