About Vancouver Hapkido
Hapkido is a martial art focused on practical self-defense. Vancouver Hapkido is a school of a constantly evolving curriculum of techniques that combine the traditional Korean elements with modern Canadian applications.
There are no competitions or sporting equivalents. We train to make ourselves ready for common and not-so-common defense scenarios. Classes are conducted in a casual fashion with no pressure to sign a contract.
Vancouver Hapkido is a collection of martial art enthusiasts. Instructors are not paid to teach and volunteer their time to help train and be trained by some of the world's most remarkable fighters. You will see elements of Judo to Taekwondo, from Jujutsu to boxing in a typical class.
Hapkido is for all walks of life. Men and women, from young adults to aged adults. If you have limitations please let us know, our aim to help you develop to your best - not to have everyone top Bruce Lee.
Founded by an early student of Choi Yong-sool, over the last 35 years Hapkido Vancouver has developed a distinctly Canadian style. Our curriculum combines classic locks and throws with essential ground techniques and our practice is always with an eye towards practical application in 2015 North America.
